VTV.vn - The Minister of Health has issued a directive on strengthening measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic in the “new normal” state, despite the outbreak having been put under control in Vietnam.

Accordingly, it is required that medical examination and treatment establishments and their heads are directly responsible for the epidemic prevention and control activities at the units, while absolutely must not to allow cross-infection.

Directors of Departments of Health of provinces and cities nationwide, as well as heads of units under the Ministry of Health are urged to strictly implement the Prime Minister's direction set under the Telegram No. 1300/CĐ-TTg, dated September 24, 2020, on strengthening the prevention and control of COVID-19.

Medical facilities are asked to well perform screening, classifying and thoroughly control of patients, while fully preparing medicines, medical supplies and equipment to receive patients and respond to any epidemic situations.

For preventive medicine units and local health departments, they are required to strictly implement medical quarantine at border gates by requiring all people entering the country to make compulsory medical declaration and strongly recommending that they install the Bluezone mobile app for fast tracing.

Other measures include strengthening supervision for early detection of suspected cases in the community; timely implementation of zoning and isolation to thoroughly handle any outbreaks and prevent the spread of infection in the community; and strengthening research and development of a possible vaccine against COVID-19, in addition to developing new testing methods.

* The Nha Trang Pasteur Institute has cooperated with the Thien Nhan Da Nang Hi-Tech Medical Diagnosis Centre to organise a training course on principles and practices in biosafety laboratories for technicians working at hospitals and testing centres in Da Nang City and neighbouring localities. The participants have been provided with biosafety knowledge. The training course runs until October 4.

* The Ministry of Health has hosted a recent teleconference discussing measures to ensure safety in battling COVID-19 at medical facilities, with more than 700 units around the country participating in the talks.

The teleconference reviewed lessons in COVID-19 treatment and measures to contain the spread of this and other acute respiratory diseases in hospitals.
