Although the construction of metro line no.1 started in August 2012, various problems related to procedures and funding have slowed down progress. In order to ensure that the project will be complete by late 2020, the Ho Chi Minh City Management Authority For Urban Railways, consultancies and contractors will effectively coordinate with each other to boost work progress.
They aim to complete 80% of construction workload in 2019. The construction of metro lines no.2 and 5 are also expected to start this year. Procedures for other lines are also being accelerated.
