Boly heads in dramatic late equaliser as Wolves draw 1-1 with Newcastle

VTV.vn - Defender Willy Boly headed in an equaliser in the dying seconds as Wolverhampton Wanderers snatched a dramatic 1-1 draw with Newcastle United in the Premier League on Monday.

The draw lifted Newcastle into 16th place on 25 points, ahead of Cardiff City on goal difference and one point above the drop zone. Wolves remained in seventh place on 39 points, 11 behind sixth-placed Chelsea.

* A fire broke out at the training centre used by Rio de Janeiro football club Bangu on Monday, sending at least two players to hospital with smoke inhalation but causing no serious injuries. The accident happened three days after 10 Flamengo youth players died and three others were injured when their lodgings caught fire.

* Naomi Osaka, winner of the past two grand slam tournaments, has parted ways with her coach Sascha Bajin. Osaka hired Bajin in 2017 and enjoyed a meteoric rise during the time they worked together. * Paris St Germain coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed that the club's record scorer Edinson Cavani will miss Tuesday's Champions League match away to Manchester United. Uruguay striker Cavani, who has scored 192 goals for PSG, sustained a hip muscle injury in Saturday’s 1-0 Ligue 1 victory over Girondins de Bordeaux adding to the side’s injury woes ahead of the last-16 first leg.

* Manchester United full back Ashley Young has signed a one-year contract to extend his stay at Old Trafford until the end of 2019-20 season, the Premier League club said on Monday. The 33-year-old England international, whose current deal was due to expire at the end of the campaign, has made 227 appearances for United in all competitions since his arrival from Aston Villa in 2011.

* Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has been appointed Oldham Athletic manager on a one-and-a-half-year contract, the English League Two (fourth-tier) club said on Monday.

* The Republic of Korea has selected Seoul as the candidate city for a joint bid with DPRK for the 2032 Olympic Games. A letter of intent is scheduled to be submitted to the International Olympic Committee on Friday when sports officials from the two sides and the IOC meet in Lausanne, Switzerland. DPRK has yet to announce its candidate city.

* Malaysian badminton legend Lee Chong Wei says he is aiming to return to competition by April, in time for the Malaysia Open. Speaking on Monday after his first training session after the Chinese New Year holiday, the shuttler said he would gradually intensify his training regime in preparation for the Malaysia Open, but would wait for the green light from his doctor in March.
