The ceremony was attended by Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC's Commission for Communications and Education, along with Members of the Party Central Committee: Tran Luu Quang, Deputy Prime Minister; Pham Tat Thang, Standing Deputy Head of the PCC's Commission of Mass Mobilisation; Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee; and Tran Sy Thanh, Deputy Secretary, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee.
This year, Hanoi City honoured 96 outstanding valedictorians, including 43 men and 53 women, divided by majors: engineering; management - culture - society; economy; pedagogy; pharmacy; and armed forces.
The 2023 commendation programme lasts for three days, October 8, 9 and 10, with many practical activities such as: a ceremony to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh and visit Uncle Ho's mausoleum; meeting and interacting with students of the Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted; and visiting and meeting pioneering businesses in innovation, creativity, and digital transformation.
2023 is the 21st year that Hanoi Capital has organized to honour outstanding valedictorians graduating from universities and academies in the city.
Over the past time, a total of 2,156 valedictorians were honoured. After being commended, many individuals have had initial success in their careers, contributing positively and effectively to the overall development of the capital and the country.
