VTV.vn - Hanoi authorities have opened an exhibition for the model of an underground station near Hoan Kiem Lake to collect suggestions from the public for a final plan.

The display will be open to the public at the Ho Guom Cultural Information Centre, No. 2 Le Thai To street, from March 9 until the end of this month, featuring the design of underground Station C9.

It is among seven underground stations of the Nam Thang Long - Tran Hung Dao route along the 42km Hanoi metro Line 2 connecting Noi Bai Airport with the city centre.

During the event, the Hanoi Metropolitan Railway Management Board (MRB), the project’s management agency, will receive comments from local officials, people, and experts on the spot, as well as through various channels, such as email and online surveys to finalise the plan before submitting to relevant authorities for approval.

Station C9 is proposed to be located at Km9 + 864,645, within the area of Hoan Kiem Lake flower garden on Dinh Tien Hoang Street. It will measure 150m long, 21.4m wide, and 17.45m deep, with three floors and four entrances.

At the end of last year, there was a consultation on the layout of C9 at a meeting between Hanoi authorities and concerned scientists, historians, and architects.

The MRB said that the entirety of Line 2 has been deigned to connect well with Line 1 and 3. Accordingly, Line 2’s Station C8 at Hang Dau Street will receive and connect passengers with Line 1 (Ngoc Hoi - Nhu Quynh line). Its Station C10 at Hang Bai Street area will connect to Line 3 (Nhon - Hoang Mai line).

Therefore, the C9 is set on Dinh Tien Hoang Street in the middle to ensure the distance between the station to C8 and C10 is not more than 1km, making it convenient for passengers to reach all of the three aforementioned urban railways.

In Phase 1, Hanoi metro Line 2’s Nam Thang Long - Tran Hung Dao route starts at the Nam Thang Long urban area (CIPUTRA), running along Nguyen Van Huyen - Hoang Quoc Viet - Hoang Hoa Tham - Thuy Khue - Phan Dinh Phung - Hang Giay - Hang Duong - Hang Ngang - Hang Dao - Dinh Tien Hoang - Hang Bai streets to finish at Hue Street (at the intersection with Nguyen Du Street).

Under the approved plan, the urban rail line is 11.5 km long, of which nearly 9 km is underground and 2.6 km above the surface. It consists of a 17.5 ha depot in Xuan Dinh ward, Bac Tu Liem district, and ten stations, including three elevated and seven underground.

The project is estimated to cost over VND34.6 trillion and is funded by Japanese ODA and reciprocal capital from the State budget.
