Samples of mud, soil and water on the farm of Ky Anh Urban Environment Company’s Director are being analysed. What have you found so far?
- Our initial analysis revealed that 13 in 15 indicators are within the permitted range. Two indicators are slightly higher than the allowed amount. We can say that it is ordinary industrial waste. We are waiting for the results from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to see how the waste affects the environment.
Some people wonder if the recent water discharge in Thuong Song Ky Lake would wash away what's left of Formosa’s waste, as the company has a waste line into this lake. What’s your take on this?
First, we can say for sure that the recent water discharge didn’t have anything to do with Formosa’s waste on the farm of Ky Anh Urban Environment Company’s Director. Where the waste was buried is 10 kilometers away from the water discharge area, so there’s no way that the water could wash away the waste.
Regarding Formosa's underground waste pipeline to Ky Phuong Commune, we can assure that this was licensed by the Provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment in 2013. The Corporation has sent a request to remove these pipelines and the Department has given permission to the Corporation.
Thank you very much.
