Gold market heats up for God of Wealth Day

Legend has it that the God of Wealth returns to heaven on the 10th day of the new year, so Vietnamese have a tradition of buying gold for luck and prosperity throughout the year.

The Sai Gon jewelry company listed the gold buying/selling prices at VND 36.97/37.35 million per tael of SJC gold bar, up VND 30,000 for buying and selling. It was forecast that the demand for gold would further increase, so the gap between buying and selling may widen. Experts recommend people should only buy gold for good luck rather than for investment because prices may fall.
