The festival aims to honor King Tran Nhan Tong, the third of the Tran dynasty, who ascended to the throne when he was just 21. He founded the first Vietnamese School of Buddhism called "Thiền Tông" or Trúc Lâm Yên Tử Zen sect.
This year, visitors can reach the Yen Tu relic site via a new cable car system. A 400m-long road through a bamboo forest will help visitors fully understand the spiritual practice of King Tran Nhan Tong.
