The French Jazz duo Peirani and Parisien represent an interesting combination between classical and contemporary music. While Emile Parisien plays saxophone, Vincent Peirani plays accordion. Six world-renowned pieces of music by Duke Ellington, Sidney Bechet, and the duo themselves were introduced to Hanoi music lovers on Saturday night.
Peirani and Parisien both received the prestigious “Victoires du Jazz” award last year. Parisien was elected “musician of the year” and Peirani received the “rising star of the year” award. The award is another highlight of their success. The two have already received the “Prix Django Reinhardt” award for French jazz, with Parisien winning in 2012 and Peirani winning in 2013.
Hanoi is the last leg in this French jazz duo’s Vietnam tour. Right after the Hanoi show, the French artists left to play shows in Singapore and Indonesia.
