VTV.vn - Manchester City are romping away in the title race but the Premier League continued to throw up surprises on Sunday (Feb 14) as first Manchester United and then Everton dropped points to sides written off as relegation fodder.

United had the opportunity to cut City’s lead to five points but were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at second-bottom West Bromwich Albion. Everton then wasted an opportunity to move level on points with fourth-placed city rivals Liverpool having played two fewer games but suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to lowly Fulham.

* Arsenal returned to the top half of the table in 10th place as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang marked his first start after an absence for personal family issues to score a hat-trick in a 4-2 home victory over Leeds United.

* Southampton’s slump worsened as they lost a sixth league game in succession, going down 2-1 at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers for whom Pedro Neto bagged a superb winner.

* Inter Milan's Romelu Lukaku scored twice and set up another goal as they beat visitors Lazio 3-1 on Sunday to move a point above AC Milan at the top of the Serie A standings. The result moves Inter above Milan onto 50 points from 22 games before the top two meet in next Sunday's mouthwatering derby clash at San Siro.

* VfL Wolfsburg were held to a 0-0 draw by Borussia Monchengladbach on Sunday as their four-match winning run in the Bundesliga came to an end. The result left Wolfsburg fourth in the standings on goal difference, level on 39 points with Eintracht Frankfurt.

* Real Madrid's Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos were on target in the first half as the hosts easily beat listless Valencia 2-0 on Sunday to make it three wins in a row in La Liga. The victory took Real back into second place on 49 points, five behind leaders Atletico Madrid who beat Granada 2-1 on Saturday and have two games in hand. Valencia are 12th on 24.

* Substitute Luis Muriel struck in the 90th minute to earn Atalanta a dramatic 1-0 victory at Cagliari in Serie A on Sunday. Elsewhere, 38-year-old striker Fabio Quagliarella's second-half goal earned Sampdoria a 2-1 win over Fiorentina.

* Jordan Veretout's first-half double set AS Roma on their way to a 3-0 victory over Udinese in Serie A on Sunday and Paulo Fonseca's side moved back above Juventus into third in the standings. The win lifted Fonseca's team on to 43 points, one ahead of champions Juventus.

* Bayern Munich have signed defender Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig with the French centre back set to join the European champions in July before the 2021-22 season, the Bundesliga club said on Sunday. Upamecano, 22, agreed to sign a five-year contract that will keep him at Bayern until 2026.

* Second seed Simona Halep survived a first-set wobble to beat Iga Swiatek 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the Australian Open fourth round on Sunday as the Romanian avenged her shock defeat by the Polish teenager at the same stage of last year's French Open.

* Kenya's Beatrice Chepkoech broke the 5 kilometres world record on Sunday, finishing in a time of 14 minutes 43 seconds round the streets of Monaco to clip one second off the old mark. Uganda's Joshua Cheptegei, the 10,000 metres world champion, won the men's race in a time of 13 minutes and 14 seconds.

* Russian qualifier Aslan Karatsev continued his fairytale run at the Australian Open on Sunday, reaching the quarter-finals on his Grand Slam debut with a 3-6, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 win over 20th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime

* Serena Williams stormed into the quarter-finals of the Australian Open on Sunday with a gritty 6-4 2-6 6-4 victory over Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka.
