According to the report published by market researchers Nielsen, this is the highest growth rate recorded during the past 3 years in the country.
The report also showed that the increase comes from such commodities as food, dairy and home care products. Beverages and soft drinks continue to be dominant in the FMCG list.
Nielsen considered rural area a potential market for enterprises as people's incomes have increased by 40% during the past 3 years.
In 2010-2013, the rural market enjoyed an annual expansion rate of over 12%, reaching 30.5% in 2011. The market started to experience a slowdown in 2014 with a rate of 10.4%. Currently, rural sales only account for half of total revenue.
