Many communities in Binh Dinh Province are completely isolated, with more than 1,200 houses flooded and over 1,300 ha of rice land immersed in water; while nearly 4,000 poultry and livestock have been killed or swept away by floods. Roads have been damaged and landslides have disrupted traffic.
In Phu Yen Province, Ba River Hydropower has regulated flood waters to a lower level, but discharge volumes have continuously increased. Heavy rain in the past two days has left many residential areas isolated. Many areas were without power from Wednesday lunchtime.
It is forecasted that on Friday, water levels in rivers in the region will increase, with high-risk of major floods, landslides and severe flooding (from a metre and a half to three and a half metres in low-lying areas. The authorities are urgently evacuating people from dangerous areas in case of wider flooding.
