The patient was previously suffering from damaged bone marrow, paralysed legs and weak arms. This was the first ever successful stem cell transplant to be conducted in Da Nang. The operation received supervision by Japanese experts from Kitano, Osaka and Kobe.
The operation took doctors eight hours to analyse the patient's health condition. Previously, doctors would have used surgery instead of transplantation. The patient's health condition is now stable. This success has opened up a new possibility of treatment and marks a great milestone for the region's health sector.
