VTV.vn - The first batch of Vietnamese passion fruit was officially exported to the Chinese market, after being cleared at Huu Nghi Border Gate in Pingxiang city, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Chinese media, citing information from the Nanning Customs, said that the first shipment of Vietnamese passion fruit, with a volume of 18.4 tonnes, was transported to the Po Chai border market for inspection and then transported directly to a factory for processing.

This is the first batch of passion fruit exported to the Chinese market through official channels after the General Department of Customs of China approved the pilot import of Vietnamese passion fruit through the Guangxi region.

According to Chinese importers, October and November is the end of the passion fruit harvest in China, but October is the beginning of the harvest of Vietnamese passion fruit, so it is possible to supplement the supply of passion fruit raw materials, for the Chinese market.

The Chinese authorities have developed a special monitoring and management plan for the clearance of passion fruit, to ensure quick implementation of procedures and processing of the fruit right at the border market area.

Due to the difference in climatic conditions, most agricultural products of Vietnam and China, especially fruits, have differences in harvesting time, creating mutual complementarity in the supply chain of agricultural products.

According to Chinese customs statistics, Vietnam’s fruit exports to China through the Huu Nghi border gate, reached 199,000 tonnes in the first 10 months of this year, up 58.1% over the same period last year.
