First repatriation flight for Vietnamese from Ukraine to land at Noi Bai Airport on March 8

VTV.vn - The first repatriation flight to bring Vietnamese evacuees from Ukraine back to Vietnam will take off today in Bucharest, Romania, and will land at Nội Bài International Airport in Hanoi on March 8.

The flight will be operated by national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and will bring home 283 citizens. It is one of two repatriation flights co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and functional agencies.

The second one will be operated by Bamboo Airways for 270 passengers and is scheduled to depart from Warsaw, Poland, on March 9.

Over 2,500 Vietnamese evacuated from Ukraine by representative agencies

Vietnam's representative agencies in Ukraine and neighbouring countries reported that as of 5 pm on March 6, they had assisted more than 2,500 Vietnamese people in evacuating from war zones in Ukraine. This number included over 1,700 to Poland, 290 to Hungary, about 600 to Romania, and over 40 to Slovakia.

The agencies assisted them in handling entry and transit procedures and coordinated with authorities and Vietnamese associations in the host countries to prepare transport, accommodation, and essential supplies for evacuees.
