VTV.vn - As the COVID-19 pandemic enters its third year, a number of countries have been implementing plans to live with the virus with the aim of treating Covid-19 as endemic.

Thailand has announced new guidelines outlining its parameters for declaring Covid-19 an endemic disease. Firstly, there are fewer than 10,000 new cases per day.

Secondly, the fatality rate is no higher than 0.1% of those who are admitted to the hospital with an infection. And lastly, more than 80% of at-risk people have had at least two Covid vaccine doses.

Spain has also called for an approach to Covid-19 as having transitioned to an "endemic" phase, which means milder seasonal outbreaks that humanity can live with. In this scenario, authorities will not need to report the number of daily new cases. People with Covid-19 symptoms will no longer have to get tested.

Many states in the US have relaxed a number of preventive regulations, including mandatory mask-wearing.

From the beginning of this year, European countries such as the UK and Denmark lifted preventive measures as they adapted a strategy of living with the virus.
