Based on preliminary investigation, the fire broke out on the hospital's seventh floor. There were more than 30 patients and 11 hospital staff members present at the time of the accident.
The city's fire department dispatched a total of 76 fire trucks and over 200 firefighters to the hospital, and eventually contained the fire. The quick spread of the fire was linked to the usage of PU foam mattresses inside the ward, however the main cause of the accident is still under investigation.
