It is expected to be signed in Chile on March 8. According to New Zealand Trade Minister David Parker, CPTPP has become more important because of the growing threats to the effective operation of the World Trade Organization rules.
22 clauses were suspended or changed over the previous TPP agreement, after the United States withdrew from the agreement last year. The agreement is expected to remove more than 98% of tariffs in the 11 member states.
The CPTPP could come into effect by the end of 2018 or the first half of 2019.
