VTV.vn - Transnational companies invested 4.8 billion USD into Vietnamese businesses in the first four months of 2017, up 3.2% from a year ago according to the Foreign Investment Agency.

The statistics included foreign direct investment to acquire, establish, or expand Vietnamese business. FDI reached a high of 15.8 billion last year, up 9% from 2015. This was primarily based on expectations that the US-backed Trans-Pacific Partnership would materialise. But according to the economists, the current lull in FDI could rebound based on the fact that Vietnam has political stability relative to other countries in ASEAN.
