Many European businesses in the food industry joining this trip are interested in Vietnam's meat market, especially as meat tariffs will decrease in accordance with the Free Trade Agreement between EU and Vietnam.
Prior to the Vietnam survey trip, the Veviba group invited Vietnam's Commercial Counselor to observe the process of slaughtering and meat packing according to European standards.
“I hope that European processing technology and food preservation standards can come to Vietnam and can raise the level of food safety for Vietnamese consumers in the coming time”, Nguyen Canh Cuong – Vietnam’s Commercial Counselor in Belgium – said.
In 2015, European meat exports to Vietnam were worth more than 23 million euro. This number will increase as import tariffs on Vietnam's meat are gradually reduced, in accordance with the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and Europe.
