The decision was announced at a ceremony on June 30 in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minh congratulated Sy on his new role and expressed his belief that Sy will work with VOV staff to maintain its status as one of Vietnam’s leading media agencies.
He also asked the VOV to promote the application of advanced technologies in producing its programmes in line with regional and global trends.
For his part, the new VOV General Director thanked the Party and State for placing their trust in him and the national radio broadcaster.
Sy expressed his determination that he and the VOV staff will strive to transform the VOV into a strong multimedia agency, deserving the trust of the Party, State and people.
Do Tien Sy was born in 1965 in the northern province of Hung Yen. He has held various posts, including Party Secretary and Chairman of the People’s Council of Hung Yen Province, before being appointed to head the VOV.
