The event was co-organised by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) and the Southeast Asia Energy Transition Partnership (ETP) under the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
The workshop aimed to collect opinions from leading experts on a communication plan for raising public awareness about energy transition and contributing to promoting the use of green energy and renewable energy in the community in the coming time.
In his opening speech, Pham Minh Hung, Deputy Director of the MPI’s Department of Industrial Economy and Service Economy, said that the Prime Minister had issued decisions approving the National Strategy on Green Growth and the National Action Plan on Green Growth for the 2021-2030 period.
The National Strategy on Green Growth sets out ten strategic directions and eight groups of tasks. In which solutions on communication and education are given attention and seen as the key to realise the strategy.
According to the National Coordinator of ETP/UNOPS Nguyen Ngoc Thuy, the public awareness campaign on energy transition placed people at the centre, ensuring that all members of society can actively participate in the energy transition process.
This is a prerequisite to support Vietnam in achieving its net-zero emissions goal by 2050, she said.
She stressed that energy transition is a long-term process, requiring synchronous solutions and joint efforts from the entire society.
Every action, no matter how small, can make an important contribution to the overall effort to reduce environmental pollution and ensure energy security, she stated.
