VTV.vn - The Ministry of Foreign affairs held a conference to mark its 70th anniversary Hanoi on Thursday.

Attending the event, ambassadors from several countries praised Vietnam’s diplomats for their role in the country’s development and international integration.

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh highlighted that the country’s diplomacy followed President Ho Chi Minh's ideology in terms of external relations.  He said it was based on the motto “befriending all countries”, whether applied to the national liberation struggle, or the current period of construction and development.

Vietnam’s foreign policy has always respected and followed international laws, resolved all disputes in a peaceful manner. This is the reason why Vietnam has gained the trust of its regional and global partners.

Since its declaration of independence 70 years ago, Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 185 countries. At the conference, the role of Vietnam’s diplomats in the new period was stressed, including furthering international integration, developing more efficient foreign relations, and deepening ties with more partners while preserving links with traditional friends.
