The programme was connected to a group of six provinces and cities: Thai Nguyen Province, Lam Dong Province, Tien Giang Province, Binh Duong Province, Hai Phong City, and Ho Chi Minh City.
The event in Dak Lak was attended by Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh along with Party Central Committee members: Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam, Standing Committee Member of the National Assembly and Chairman of the National Assembly (NA)'s Council for Ethnic Affairs; and Nguyen Dinh Trung, Secretary of Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee.
The Mid-Autumn Festival Journey for Children takes place from September 5 to 17, aiming to bring a joyful, warm and meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival with rich activities to children in difficult circumstances.
Speaking at the event, Deputy PM Nguyen Hoa Binh sent his best wishes to the children. He also praised and commended the children for their high achievements in studying, for their efforts to improve their lives, and for their practical contributions to the community.
The Deputy PM said that storm No. 3 and its circulation have just passed through, causing much pain, loss, and heavy damage to people and property in the northern provinces.
In such difficult circumstances, many rescue, relief and charity activities were carried out; money, goods and necessities were mobilised and directed towards the people affected by storm No. 3, especially children, such that they could also have a full Mid-Autumn Festival and be ready to return to school as soon as the flood was over.
At the event, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU)'s Central Committee and the Central Council of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation presented 200 gifts to disadvantaged children in Dak Lak Province.
On the occasion, 15,000 Mid-Autumn Festival gifts, each worth 300,000 VND, were also presented to children in the localities. In addition, four playgrounds were announced for children in the four provinces of Gia Lai, Dak Nong, Lang Son, and Cao Bang, with a total value of 250 million VND, while 330 scholarships, each worth 1 million VND, were presented.
At the same time, other gifts, worth more than 4.5 billion VND, were presented to children in 15 provinces and cities affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi storm), including: Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Lang Son, Thai Nguyen, Son La, Hoa Binh, Phu Tho, Hanoi, Lao Cai, Bac Giang, Yen Bai, Hai Duong, and Hai Phong City.
The value of the works, gifts and scholarships presented in Dak Lak and other localities on the occasion totalled nearly 10.6 billion VND.
