Results so far have shown that the vaccine is effective for 65% of patients aged 9 and above. If successful, these rates would mean a 80% reduction in the number of patients having to be admitted to the hospital due to dengue fever. The severity of the fever would also be cut down drastically. Currently, the number of dengue fever patients who are 9 years and above are about 60,000 out of 90,000 recorded cases. Research and testing has taken place since 2011, under the direction of the HCMC Pasteur Institute.
