The natural disaster swept away 200 houses and endangered many lives. So far, 6 people have been reported dead and 3 have gone missing. Roads leading to the centre of Muong La District were under a metre of water, causing traffic congestion. The floods also destroyed property.
Heavy rain also made water levels on the rivers rise to dangerous levels. Son La authorities have mobilised hundreds of officials, soldiers, police officers and locals to evacuate households living near rivers and streams.
