The workshop discussed the impacts the EU FTA would have on key business segments of the economy, success stories from UK companies in Danang, and available support to help them. UK Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City Ian Gibbons said UK companies have invested US$1.6 million in nine business ventures in the coastal city, mostly in English language training, information technology, business consultancy and trade activities. A large number of UK companies have also opened representative offices in the city. Danang officials hoped more UK businesses invest in the city and promised that the city will offer more incentives in the future. A preliminary memorandum of understanding to explore the possibility of investment was signed at the end of the event.
