Our reporter Linh Huong visits several existing IT companies in this coastal central city to find out how their choices of location turn out to be.
FPT Software Da Nang- a member of FPT Group is currently the biggest software outsourcing company in the city. The company provides cloud technology and software services to automobile companies and public services.
Since its establishment in 2005, the company has continuously received support from the municipal authorities in terms of location, infrastructure and human resources.
Nguyen Tuan Phuong, Director, FPT Software Danang Branch said: "During a recent working session with the People’s Committee, we spoke about our plan to develop our market in Japan and our demand for human resources with a good command of Japanese. Right after that, the municipal authorities worked with training centres and universities in the city to provide Japanese language classes. We highly appreciate such timely and proper response."
This 21 storey building is Danang Software Park opened in 2010 by the Da Nang Department of Information and Communications. It is now home to many foreign and domestic software and digital companies.
Danang Nippon Seiki, for example, makes software installed in Japanese motorbike’s speedometers on behalf of its parent company in Japan.
Regarding IT development, Da Nang is still a late-comer compared to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. However, since the early 2000s, the municipal authorities have offered consistent policies to improve the quality of human resources in this field.
Pham Kim Son, Director, Da Nang Department of Information and Technology said: "Five years ago, Da Nang’s internet penetration already reached 38% of its population. For the past ten years, the city has continuously spent a significant amount of money on training human resources for hi-tech industries and IT."
