Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee Truong Thi Mai had meetings with the first deputy chairman of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia Simunek and General Secretary of Czech Social Democratic Party Kucian as part of her visit to the Czech Republic from September 15th to 19th. At the meetings, the two sides agreed on enhancing bilateral exchanges of information.
Mai spoke highly of the support from the Czech Republic in promoting the ratification of the EU - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement as well as the simplification of visa applications. She also mentioned the current tension in the East Sea region and underlined Vietnam's determination in settling disputes through peaceful means, on the basis of compliance with international law. During her visit to the Czech Republic, Mai also met with with Marcel Winter, head of the Czech - Vietnam Friendship Association, visited the embassy and held talk with representatives of Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic.
