Binh Minh Plastics Joint Stock Company (BMP) – a member of SCG – officially inaugurated the Binh Minh Plastics Training Center (BMP Academy) and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCMUTE), marking a new milestone in the company's journey of supporting Vietnam's plastic construction materials industry through training, knowledge exchange, and workforce development.
Held under the theme "Unlocking the Flow of Knowledge – Connecting Future Experts," the event reflects BMP Academy's vision of becoming a platform that connects educational institutions, businesses, and real-world project practice, helping to standardize knowledge and develop future generations of experts and engineers for the industry. BMP Academy is also an initiative that advances SCG's long-term commitment to placing people at the heart of development – as embodied in the Group's ESG 4 Plus strategy and its "Embrace Collaboration" pillar.
“BMP Academy is established on the foundation of Binh Minh Plastics' nearly 50-year journey – a trusted brand across generations of consumers, with products used in countless residential, infrastructure, and landmark projects throughout Vietnam. Since pioneering the production of PVC-U pipes in the 1980s, Binh Minh Plastics has helped lay the groundwork for Vietnam's plastic piping industry. The experience accumulated through manufacturing, quality control, and real-world applications now forms the basis for the company's expanded role: from materials manufacturer to a connector of knowledge and developer of human resources for the sector.
Binh Minh Plastics has been part of Vietnam's development journey for nearly 50 years – through residential buildings, infrastructure, and urban projects across the country. For SCG, investing in human is just as important as investing in materials – and BMP Academy is how that commitment becomes real." – Mr. Niwat Athiwattananont, General Director, Binh Minh Plastics Joint Stock Company.
Connecting Academic Learning with Real-World Project Practice
Despite Vietnam's rapid push toward green and sustainable infrastructure, a significant gap remains between academic training and the practical demands of construction sites. BMP Academy was built to bridge that gap – combining theoretical instruction with hands-on practice, factory visits, specialist seminars, and direct exposure to real manufacturing environments, helping participants develop a sound understanding of materials and master the principles of designing, installing, and operating water supply and drainage systems.
As part of the inauguration, Binh Minh Plastics and HCMUTE signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote collaboration in training, practical learning, and applied research – enabling students to engage with real industry requirements while still in school. This marks the first step in a broader roadmap to expand partnerships with universities, colleges, and professional organizations nationwide.
Standardizing Knowledge and Skills for the Plastic Construction Materials Industry
Competition in the construction materials sector is shifting from "price and product" to "value chain and standards." As the market increasingly demands higher durability, safety, and sustainability, training engineers and technical personnel to recognized practical standards has never been more important. Building on its investments in technology and end-to-end production chain management, Binh Minh Plastics expects BMP Academy to transform manufacturing experience and project expertise into highly applicable training content.
Experts from Binh Minh Plastics, together with lecturers from universities, professional associations, and ecosystem partners, will jointly develop training content to ensure practical relevance and currency. Beyond technical knowledge, the program emphasizes construction quality, occupational safety, and professional responsibility – aligned with BMP Academy's three core values: Connecting, Setting Standards, and Shaping Sustainability.
Developing Human Resources for Sustainable Growth
The green transition demands that future engineers possess not only technical competence but also a sustainability mindset – fully in line with SCG's Net Zero journey in Vietnam. In response, BMP Academy is progressively integrating content on green materials, sustainable infrastructure solutions, and efficient resource use into its curriculum.
This initiative also extends Binh Minh Plastics' community commitment through the "Cherishing Water Resources, Nurturing the Future" project – which has supported water pipeline systems in underserved localities across Vietnam. With BMP Academy, that spirit of contributing to community well-being expands into education and workforce development – preparing a generation of professionals equipped with technical thinking, professional responsibility, and a sustainable development mindset. In doing so, BMP Academy becomes part of the journey SCG and its member companies continue to pursue in Vietnam: growth that goes beyond business, to investing in people and the future.
