The event brought together leaders of ministries, sectors, scientists and localities, throughout the region.
Delegates at the conference discussed solutions to enhance connectivity in the region, such as boosting agricultural links, by introducing agricultural and aquatic products of localities in the region, at large markets, especially the Central Highlands, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City.
They also suggested boosting the link in human resource training, to serve the development of the marine economy and other industries.
They proposed developing logistics service centres for fisheries to share information and create links in the exploitation, farming, and the processing of aquatic products.
Localities in the region should also strengthen coordination in training and using the labour force, especially in high-tech zones, economic zones, industrial parks, and export processing zones.
Addressing the conference, Deputy PM Tran Hong Ha, who is also chairman of the council, assessed that the establishment of the council plays a very important role in renewing the regional coordination mechanism, promoting regional socio-economic development, protecting the environment, and ensuring national defence and security.
He asked localities in the region to consider the establishment of sub-regions, which are connected according to geographical location or potentials and strengths of each sub-region and make wise investments to improve local transport infrastructure.
Localities were also requested to share information and learn from each other, to work out practical cooperation plans for mutual development.
