As part of the “Meet Korea 2023” programme, the event brought together representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Korean Ambassador to Vietnam, leaders of 13 provinces and cities in northern Vietnam and more than 150 enterprises from the RoK.
According to Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu, Vietnam and the RoK have become important partners for each other in many fields, noting that the RoK is the currently the largest foreign investor in Vietnam.
He added that Vietnam is also a major economic partner of the RoK in ASEAN, accounting for 30% of its investment and 50% of its trade with the group.
The Vietnamese official affirmed that Vietnam always listens to and strives to address the difficulties facing Korean investors so that they confidently conduct long-term business in Vietnam.
For her part, RoK Ambassador to Vietnam Oh Young Ju stressed that the programme will enable the two countries’ businesses and leaders discuss and explore investment cooperation opportunities in new areas.
During the conference, leaders of Vietnam’s northern provinces showcased their strengths, socio-economic achievements, and key projects that are seeking investment.
In the meantime, Korean enterprises raised issues of shared concern such as diversifying supply chains, building smart cities, dealing with environmental pollutions, fire prevention regulations and administrative reforms.
Concluding the conference, Deputy Minister Vu expressed his appreciation for the recommendations of the participants, which will help the Vietnamese government and local authorities to take appropriate measures to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
