Xuan Lam village, Gio Mai commune, Gio Linh district, Quảng Trị province has one of the highest rate of people die from cancer for many years. Good news for the local residents is that Quang Tri Clean Water JSC has officialy launched the new clean water system to better serve the local here.
The project is worth 2 billion VND or 90 thousand USD from the local budget. The project is expected to be completed on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the liberation of Quang Tri province. The project will help 300 households in Xuan Lam commune to have clean water.
The water source of the entire village wells have been contaminated with residues of pesticides. In just a short period of time, the number of people dying from cancer locally spike suddenly. Water pollution is suspected to be the main cause.
