Recently, many efforts have been made by the Cambodian government and the artists themselves to preserve and pass down this unique art to younger generations. Besides Wat Svay Andet, two new troupes with Lakhon Khol expertise have also formed, in Kampong Thom and at the National Theatre, while the dance is now also being taught at the Royal University of Fine Arts.
