The event was attended by Chairman of the Lao National Assembly Saysomphone Phomvihane; the Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly; and Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung; as well as leaders of ministries and branches of Laos and representatives of a number of embassies and diplomatic missions of countries in Laos.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Lao NA’s Committee for Foreign Affairs Sanya Praseuth said that the bicycle race is part of the series of activities to celebrate the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022, in order to contribute to tightening and strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two parties, states and peoples of Laos and Vietnam in general and between the National Assembly of the two countries in particular.
Immediately after the opening speech, Chairman of the Lao National Assembly Saysomphone Phomvihane cut the ribbon announcing the start of the race in an atmosphere of friendship and solidarity.
Nearly 1,000 amateur athletes of all ages divided into groups and departed from the courtyard of the Lao National Assembly House – one of the symbols of the special Vietnam-Laos relationship – excited to participate in the bicycle race.
