At a press briefing on November 9, Chanh Thu General Director Ngo Tuong Vy said the company has been working with three green-skinned pomelo cooperatives to develop the growing region for US export.
The first batch is expected to include two containers transported by ship as well as 2-3 tonnes by air.
Ben Tre currently has 9,440 hectares of green-skinned pomelos with an annual output of 90,000 tonnes. The province has 12 growing area codes with 170 hectares in Chau Thanh District and three qualified packaging facilities.
The export of the first batch of Vietnamese green-skinned pomelo to the US is expected to boost the growing of the fruit in Ben Tre Province while remaining in line with standard practices so as to produce safe products with consistent quality.
