At the meeting with Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel, PM Dung highlighted the co-operation between Vietnam and Belgium, especially the third session of Vietnam - Belgium Joint Committee for Economic Co-operation.
The value of Belgian investments in Vietnam reached 420 million US dollars in the first 9 months of 2015, underscoring the increasingly close economic ties between the two countries. Vietnam and Belgium are ready for co-operation in other sectors such as education and training, climate change mitigation and transport. PM Michel guaranteed Belgium’s support in EU-Vietnam Partnership and Co-operation Agreement. He also said that Belgium advocates peaceful measures to tackle disputes in the East Sea, based on respect for international law and regulations.
PM Dung also met President of the Belgian Senate Christine Defraigne to discuss further co-operation on economics, technology and especially green development. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung expressed appreciation for the support of Belgium in EU - Vietnam Partnership and Co-operation Agreement. Defraigne also underlined the hospitality she enjoyed during her visit to Vietnam last month. She underlined the long-lasting friendship of the two countries, including co-operation on political issues.
During his working visit to Belgium, PM Dung was also welcomed by President of Belgian Chamber of Representatives Siegfried Bracke. The two leaders highly valued the success of the previous Vietnam-Belgium Joint Committee for Economic Co-operation session, as well as recent free trade agreement developments. PM Dung said Vietnam hoped for Belgian support in resolving the East Sea dispute through peaceful measures.
