Unlike in the past, where environmental concerns were secondary to development targets, Bach Ma National Park has co-operated with related parties to intensify preservation efforts during construction.
This path is normally used by the park authorities to monitor wildlife activities, but now it’s serving the construction of the Ho Chi Minh Highway La Sơn - Tuy Loan section, so it’s currently being used to transport construction materials. Ho Chi Minh highway covers a 10 - kilometre length of Bach Ma National Park, and the work obviously poses a threat to the forest's ecosystem.
"We’ll set up cameras for surveillance to ensure road workers don’t hunt wild animals. We’re co-operating closely with the road management and the workers themselves to effectively protect the forest", said Huynh Van Keo - Director of Bach Ma National Park.
The project management unit are also carrying out training courses among the workers in order to raise awareness about forest protection regulations.
