The Immigration Department, under the Ministry of Public Security, has issued the notice:
1. Foreigners who entered Vietnam on a visa waiver, e-visa, or tourist visa from March 1st, 2020 are entitled to an automatic visa extension until July 31st, 2020, and can depart from Vietnam without having to extend their stay permit.
2. For those who entered Vietnam before March 1st, 2020, the same automatic visa extension can be considered, as long as there is proof that the person was stranded in Vietnam because of COVID-19 accompanied by a diplomatic Note (with Vietnamese translation) from the relevant diplomatic mission, or a written document from the relevant Vietnamese authorities confirming that the person was required to undergo mandatory quarantine or treatment for COVID-19, or advice of other force majeure.
3. During the automatic visa extension period, foreigners are required to complete a temporary residence and health status declaration.
4. Those who aren't subject to paragraph 1 of these guidelines or those who have breached the laws will be treated according to the applicable laws of Vietnam.
