VTV.vn - The third Asia-Europe New Music Festival opened at the Hanoi Opera House on November 24, gathering more than 300 artists and musicians from over 40 countries and territories worldwide.

The artists will join together in five major genres of symphony, chamber music, chorus, harmony of traditional musical instruments and the harmony of Western musical instruments.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Chairman of Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, Huu Thinh, applauded the Vietnam Musicians' Association (VMA) for hosting the festival, expressing his hope that the festival would help the participating artists to explore the arts, culture, land and people of each other’s country.

He also believed that the event would bring the Vietnamese land, culture and people closer to foreign artists, thereby contributing to fostering the friendship, cooperation, and cultural links between Vietnam and Asian and European countries.

VMA Chairman Do Hong Quan said that the biennial festival is designed as an art forum, showcasing Vietnam’s recent achievements in new music and introducing local musicians and their works to foreign colleagues.

The opening ceremony was followed by a concert under the baton of Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji and Greek conductor Zoe Zeniodi, featuring 11 musical pieces by celebrated composers from different countries.
