Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Viet Dung, Chairman of the ASEAN Committee in Wellington, said that ASEAN has become a comprehensive regional cooperation organization and a cohesive and dynamic political and economic entity. The establishment of a human-centered ASEAN Community by the end of the year will enable ASEAN to confront regional and global challenges more effectively. In July 2013, New Zealand unveiled its own strategy on relations with ASEAN with specific goals and actions to step up multifaceted cooperation with the regional bloc.
