Of the total, the export value of key agricultural products was US$1.6 billion, an increase of 28.9% while the export turnover of the aquatic sector was US$600 million, up 19.6% and export revenue of key forestry products reported at US$1.33 billion, a sharp increase of 47.8% over the same period last year.
In January, Vietnam also imported nearly US$2.97 billion worth of agricultural products, up 47.2% compared to the same period in 2020.
To promote the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will continue to coordinate with localities to support trading activities in border provinces, particularly provinces neighbouring China.
The ministry will also continue to negotiate and remove trade barriers to facilitate the export of Vietnamese agricultural products through official channels.
In addition, the ministry will conduct specific measures to promote domestic consumption through the organisation of trade fairs, trade promotion events and the campaign on encouraging Vietnamese people using Vietnamese goods as well as introducing local specialties and key agricultural products to consumers in big cities.
