Regional Maritime Search and Rescue Co-ordination Centre 2 received a call from a vessel owned by Le Van Mai from Quang Nam was drifting and at risk in high seas.
The boat was located to the west of the Paracel Islands. The six crew were facing three-metre high waves and made an emergency call.
The fishermen were safely located at 4:45pm the same day, and they were escorted back to land.
