52nd Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union: Serving Audiences - Empowering Asia-Pacific
VTV.vn - The 52nd Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union General Assembly (ABU GA) officially opened in Istanbul – Turkey.

The opening ceremony was co-chaired by ABU President – Mr. Cho Dae-Huyn, ABU General Secretary – Mr. Javad Mottaghi and General Director of Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), Mr. Senol Goka, and with the participation of some 200 delegates.

The theme: Serving audiences - Empowering Asia-Pacific was set very clearly and consistency throughout the whole General Assembly and its associated Meetings, ranging from Technology to Content, News, Sports, and even from Copyright to Finance.

During the plenary session, the General Assembly approved the reports presented by all the departments of the ABU. Presentations and discussions focused on the current affairs of the development of broadcasting industry in the new era were also briefed.

With the aim at serving audiences and particularly empowering the Asia-Pacific, the most dynamic region in the world with the fastest emerging economies and growing populations, while the listening and viewing habits are changing all the time, ABU will definitely have much opportunity but also have to cope with challenges whilst implementing its action plans in the near future. ABU called its members to think out of the box to find innovative and creative ways to capture the opportunities and ready to face challenges in the digital era.

“Our mission is to serve the audience in all media platforms.” – ABU General Secretary Mr. Javad Mottaghi highlighted in his speech at the opening ceremony.

ABU GA 52 determined that technology is taking audiences in a new digital frontier. ABU needs more breakthrough inventions in broadcasting so as more adding more opportunities for effective cooperation among members.

ABU President – Mr. Cho Dae Huyn emphasized the mission of ABU is not only to foster the development of broadcasting industry, but enhance the professional activities among its members in the Asia-Pacific region as well.

The number of members is constantly increasing and new projects are being initiated. The union’s achievement is remarkable due to the very good collaboration between the Secretariat and the Administrative Council”. He added.

The delegation of Vietnam Television headed by President Tran Binh Minh is scheduled to take part in all the meetings within the framework of 52 ABU General Assembly till 31st October 2015.

From 24th to 31st October 2015, VTV’ delegation will also have presentations at the meetings of Technical Committee, Programs Committee, ABU Sports Conference and take part in numerous important events namely ABU TV Song Festival 2015, ABU Prizes 2015.
