Dubbed the "Oscars of Vietnam’s Sports," the prestigious annual awards are jointly organised by the Vietnam Sports Administration, Vietnam Television Cable Corporation and Vietcontent Sports Company, aiming to honour the best individuals and collectives of Vietnamese sports of the year.
Accordingly, different from the previous four editions, this year, the organisers have decided to add the "Foreign Coach of the Year" to the award system, increasing the number of honoured categories to 11, reported by Ha Noi Moi Online.
The 10 traditional categories are Male, Female and Young Athletes of the Year, as well as Coach, Team, Teammate, Impressive Photo, Best Athlete With Disability, Most Favourite Athlete, and the Life-time Achievement.
This year's award has a total prize value of up to VND360 million, nearly double that of 2018.
As the 2019 Southeast Asian Games – the most important event of Vietnamese sport this year – will end on December 10 in the Philippines, the organisers have decided to delay the time of announcing the nomination list for the categories and the voting progress until December 15.
Particularly, the "Best Athlete With Disability of the Year" will be decided based on the athletes' performance in 2019, as 2020 ASEAN Para Games will take place from January 18 to 25 in the Philippines, following the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
From December 15 this year, fans can visit the awards website at http://cupchienthang.vn to vote for the winners, who will be announced at a gala night schedule for January 2020.
