High ranking politicians attended the event to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the first General Election of the Vietnamese National Assembly.
At the event, Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng, former General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh, NA Chairman Nguyễn Sinh Hùng and other officials looked back on the success of the first General Election. The 1946 General Election opened a whole new era of unity and development in Vietnam. NA Chairman Nguyễn Sinh Hùng highlighted the contribution of the National Assembly deputies in the decisive moments of the past 70 years.
Over 400 deputies voted from these 13 elections have held important positions in the government. The delegates of Hanoi, of which President Hồ Chí Minh used to be a member, played an important role in the consolidation of the National Assembly. The NA Chairman also called for the NA deputies to further solidarity and association at all levels for the socio-economic development of the country.
