VTV.vn - An event called Thailand Day 2015, held at Thong Nhat Park in Hanoi this Saturday, attracted many Thai culture lovers.

This festival is regarded as one of the most outstanding cultural activities of the year, and contributes to strengthening the cultural ties between Vietnam and Thailand.

"The relationship between Thailand and Vietnam has become very strong, especially when we bolster our strategic partnership. Culture is one of the main ways we can strengthen the cooperation and ties between the two countries. Vietnam and Thailand have many similarities, but we would like to showcase more special features of our culture for the Vietnamese public today", Ambassador Panyarak Poolthup, Thailand Ambassador to Vietnam, said.

Muay Thai is one of the highlights of this year's festival. It is regarded as a spiritual martial art and is usually performed live, accompanied by drums, oboes, and trumpets. There were also performances of Thai traditional dances, brought out of their normal setting in the palace of Thailand to become more accessible to the Vietnamese public.

Aside from these colorful performances on stage, more than 20 booths with food and games also attracted festival goers. 10 famous Thai restaurants also made an appearance at the event, allowing people to sample the unique flavours of Thai cuisine.

The festival is also an opportunity for the Thai community in Vietnam to exchange views and contribute to the community. All of the money raised during the event, estimated at about 200 million VND, will be given to the National Fund for Children in Vietnam.
