Local authorities in Dalat have been investing in public spaces around the city as they see their potential in local tourism development.
No matter what time of the day it is, one can always spot at least a few flower lovers at this park. Being an open space, almost everyone, whether they’re tourists, locals or just regular passers-by, is attracted to the myriad of flowers to Ánh Sáng Park. However, hardly anyone knows that the park used to be a city slum. Ever since the city decided to turn it into a park, this place has become a new local tourist attraction.
Tran Thi Thao, Dalat City, Lam Dong Province said: “I love this place! Every now and then, they grow a different type of flowers at this place. Last time, they had scarlet sages, then wild pansies, and now these. Every late afternoon, I often bring my child here to play and take photographs”.
Dinh Thi Thuy Trang, tourist, Dong Nai Province said: “I think public spaces like this are necessary because they make visitors more comfortable and they’re free compared to the main tourist destinations. At least for me, it is so”.
Lâm Viên Square, on the other hand, attracts visitors with the beautiful landscapes and the typical architectural features of Da Lat City by the side of Xuân Hương Lake. Previously, before Lâm Viên Square was finished, this place had been used only as a venue to host events.
Hoang Trong Phu, Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province said: “These are the two largest and most impressive buildings in Da Lat. They’re also the symbol of youth for this city. Everyone loves them!”.
Being a tourism city, almost every destination in Da Lat is open for visitors. However, it is difficult to find places of interests for tourists after dusk as most tourist attractions are closed by then. Public spaces like these are not only a possible solution but also bring freshness to the City’s attractiveness.
