Huế’s traditional áo dài are attractive to tourists thanks to their decorative patterns that remind people of life in the royal court. With the aim to make Huế’s áo dài a unique tourism product, the Huế Monuments Conservation Center worked together with a local travel agency to launch a space to display Huế’s traditional áo dài inside the Ancient Citadel. Visiting this space, tourists learn about the lives of women in the royal court during the Nguyễn Dynasty and the history of the áo dài. Tourists also have a chance to practice silk embroidery and art, as well as watch an áo dài being made from scratch.
