The event was co-organised by the Economic Commission of the Party Central Committee and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. At the meeting, speakers highlighted the achievements of Vietnam’s tourism sector over the past 30 years.
In comparison with 1990, the number of international tourists to the nation has increased 30-fold, while domestic travellers have increased 35-fold. 2014 saw tourism revenue reach around 10.5 billion USD.
Nevertheless, speakers note that there were still shortcomings. Several conference attendees referred to low levels of tourist satisfaction, tourism business efficiency, or lack of diversity in terms of distinctive tourism products.
The conference also hosted in-depth discussions on policy-building to boost tourism and increasing professionalism in tourism services.
